Art & Design

Hey there, I'm Molly!

I am a female intermedia artist based in northern Colorado. My practice is focused in graphic design, painting, photography, videography and floral design. My work explores themes of preservation, environmentalism, and feminism.

I started selling my art in 2020 at the age of 13, but I've had a passion for art since I started taking art classes at the age of four. My business officially began with an Etsy shop called PocketOfPoppies, where I sold paintings, cards, and stickers. Now, I have expanded! I take on freelance projects and sell my artwork through our family farm and at local businesses and events.

My Practice

The world is a crazy place. Days fly by, bombarded by busy schedules, fast paces, and overconsumption. The little things often get left behind. My work is an attempt to bring attention and beauty to the ugly and overshadowed aspects of our world, while building stronger connections with the community. It encourages a pause, offering a moment to reflect. In my practice, I look to both express and evoke heavy emotions and explore themes of preservation, environmentalism,

and feminism.

Due to the overconsumption and capitalist nature of humans, the natural wonders of this earth are rapidly diminishing. My work aims to bring light to the natural areas that we still have left, highlighting the smallest details. Rocks, trails, skies, and water make up the textures, colors, and patterns found in my work, begging you to look closer. Living in Colorado has given me the greatest supply of inspiration an artist could ask for and I have also been fortunate enough to travel to some pretty amazing places, which have inspired many of my pieces.

My artwork also includes a plethora of botanical elements. I find inspiration for these in my family’s flower farm in Niwot, Colorado, and in my own horticultural practices. The varieties in my work often reflect those that are currently in bloom in our fields. This association helps me to create a timeline in my artwork and establish a greater connection with the natural world.

Far too often, we hear of stories in which women are told what they can’t or shouldn’t do. My work is meant to reflect the anger and exhaustion that women around the world endure simply to keep up, while at the same time, highlighting the beauty, power, and grace that they exemplify. I am extremely lucky to always be surrounded by a powerful and inspiring group of women - my friends and family, and our all-female farm crew - all of whom have helped pave the way for my artistic success.

Graphic Design

Within the realm of graphic design and visual arts, I have 4 years of education and experience from the Career Elevation and Technology Center and from Colorado State University, where I am currently pursuing my Bachelors in Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design. I am an Adobe Certified Professional in Visual Design (Illustrator and Photoshop), and I also have experience in Adobe InDesign, Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, and Express. Every day, I aim learn new skills and software while staying up-to-date with design trends and honing my design skills.

My professional practice is centered around brand design. I work with clients to develop unique and intriguing visual identities for both new and established brands. Design assets include, but are not limited to, logos, color palettes, typography styling, icons, patterns, imagery, and social media graphics. In addition to my branding work, I also create highly editorial collage works, sports media, and social media content.

I have been painting since I was 4 years old and I have slowly been developing my personal style over the years. I work in both watercolor and acrylic, however my focus is mainly acrylic.

In my artworks, I always try to include a 3D or multimedia element. Since I draw a lot of my inspiration from flowers, I have started using pressed flowers, dried flowers, and paper flowers. I also create collages with book pages and magazine cutouts to create a base for my paintings.

My paintings are available to purchase, along with a few prints in my store.

Photography

As for photography, my goal is simply to capture beautiful things.

Living in Colorado, I am constantly surrounded by a awe-inspiring views. In my outdoor adventures, I aim to photograph everything, from the largest mountains to the tiniest leaves on the trees.

I work with clients to capture individual essence through portrait, family, branding, and event photography.

I also enjoy macro photography and find my subjects within our family's flower fields.

Floral design is more of a hobby, but I work with Slupik MiniFarm to create floral arrangements, wreaths, corsages, and more. Working with local flowers allows me to create unique, seasonal arrangements.

I do not sell my floral designs independently. If you wish to purchase arragemnets, please visit www.slupikminifarm.com or email info@slupikminifarm.com.
